Activities at Timber! Outdoor Music Festival

During your two nights at Timber! Outdoor Music Festival, not only will you experience the best music the Northwest has to offer, you’ll also experience the Northwest itself. We’ve added a number of outdoor activities to this brand new music festival to help you celebrate the great outdoors and all that Carnation, WA has to offer.

From stargazing (weather permitting) to enjoying artists by the campfire, we hope to give you a truly one of a kind and unforgettable experience.

Stargazing

On Saturday July 27th at Midnight, you are welcome to join Dr. Oliver Fraser, Professor of Astrophysics at University of Washington, for a casual star talk in the big field located near the main stage.  There will be a few telescopes provided by amateur astronomy clubs, but feel free to bring your own telescope or a pair of binoculars!

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Another announcement of activities at Timber Outdoor Music Festival! MOUNTAIN BIKING – Explore the rolling, winding singletrack of Tolt-/MacDonald Park with Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. This ride is ideal for intermediate cross-country riders, though more advanced riders will have fun too. Pace will be social – no one left behind.

Meet at 10:00am in the Yurt Camping Area meadow near the suspension bridge. Plan to ride for 2-2.5 hours. A mountain bike in good working order and a helmet are mandatory. Water, spare tubes, a basic bike tool set, and snacks are recommended.

Go here to sign up for the ride:http://evergreenmtb.org/recreation/calendar.php?event_id=11115 You do not need to be an Evergreen member to join the ride, but you do need to create a free guest account on Evergreen’s site.

Root Beer Garden for the Kids

Adults aren’t the only ones who enjoy frosty cold beverages! Thanks to our friends at The Root Beer Store, kids will have their own special place to sample and purchase refreshing select root beers. Of course grown ups are welcome too. Look for the ROOT BEER GARDEN right next door to the Main Stage Sierra Nevada Beer Garden on Saturday!

Hiking Trails

View from one of the many hiking tails at Tolt-MacDonald Park

King County’s Tolt-Macdonald Park is a beautiful hiking destination featuring three miles of forested and riverside trails. The backcountry area of the park is located on the west side of the river across the suspension bridge on the festival grounds.  If you would like to plan a hike, you can find a map of the park’s trails here.

We’ve got merch!  Stop by the Timber! General Store to pick up your very own Timber Hat, Hoodie or T-shirt! In addition to apparel items, we’ll also have some camping essentials on including firewood, bug spray, candy, soda and other odds and ends. Stop by to take a look at the selection and grab some free Timber! stickers for your cars or trapper keeper while you’re at it!

Campfires

There are three communal campfire pits around Tolt-Macdonald Park. Additionally anyone with a premium campsite has their very own fire pit.  We expect some sing-a-longs, s’more cooking and general campfire merriment.  You can also expect some late night performances from Timber! artists around the most centrally located communal campfire pit including a very special 10pm performance Friday night with Nu Klezmer Army.  Keep your ear to the ground for information on more special impromptu performances! We’ll be spreading the word at the festival.

Pete’s Friday Night Afterparty

When the Campfire Stage settles down on Friday night, meet us in town at Pete’s Club Grill for a late night show featuring Baltic Cousins and Hobosexual.  This is free for all and will be loud!  Pete’s is located at 4640 Tolt Ave. (space is limited)

Sunday Hangover Brunch at Sliders

Sliders Cafe is one of our favorite Carnation hangouts, join us at Sliders on Sunday Morning for a very special Hangover Brunch. Sliders will serve up wholesome food from their kitchen and special performances from their stage.

Buskers

We’re very excited to have both Nu Klezmer Army and Ben Fisher on board at Timber! as the festivals official buskers!   Both artists will be performing impromptu un-amplified sets around the campgrounds throughout the festival so please make sure to have a few bucks in your pocket to throw in their hats and guitar cases.   Do you have a premium campsite?  If you see these guys around feel free to invite them to your party!  We’ve also scheduled these official times that you can see them.

Ben Fisher - July 26th | 3pm | On the west side of the walking bridge

Nu Klezmer Army – July 26th | 10pm | at the communal campfire near the yurts on the west side of the walking bridge.

Timber! Highly Unofficial 5k Run/Walk

There will be no bibs with numbers on them and nobody keeping an official time. This is nothing more than a gathering of those who would like to finish their experience at Timber! Outdoor Music Festival with a nice jog or walk with friends.   To join, simply meet at the covered shelter on the west side of the walking bridget at 9:30am.

Saturday Morning Children’s Concert with Mikey Mike!

We’re happy to announce that  families at Timber will be able to enjoy a 10am concert for the kids at Tolt’s Red Barn (the Barn located in the “quiet camping area”) on Saturday morning July 27th. We’re proud to be partnering with the Carnation Library for this very special event which will not only be part of Timber! Outdoor Music Festival, but also free for anyone in town who would like to come to the park and bring their kids.  Mike Gervais is a key member of the band Curtains for You and half of the brother duo Mikey and Matty, and brings an incredible amount of enthusiasm and “rocking out” to the shows he puts on for the little ones.  Click here to hear Mikey Mike’s music for the kids!

Tolt River Beach

For those who want to dip their toes in the Tolt River or catch some sun (perhaps some zzzz’s as well) by the river, there is beach access to the Tolt River located on the south end of the RV/General Festival camping area.  (Please exercise extreme caution when wading in the river and please remember that if you choose to swim/wade in the river that there is no life guard and that you’re doing so at your own risk. )
