Artist Home Summer Bonfire Series Returns…

Sunny days in Seattle are like holidays. Folks here celebrate these rare moments of sun by heading to the beach and firing up the grill. What’s the best way to end a day of play in the beautiful Northwest? How about great local musicians serenading you as the sun sets over the sound?

Artist Home is excited to announce our third year of the Summer Bonfire Series. These free performances will take place on the 2nd to last last Sunday of June, July and August at Golden Gardens in Seattle.

On each date, two bands/musicians will play fireside acoustic sets as the sun goes down. We never announce who is playing, but rest assured we always select these artists with the same quality and care that we have for all Artist Home Presents events.

Friends can come early to enjoy the beach and spend time with the musicians and friends before the music gets going. The whole family is welcome to enjoy our brief Seattle summer with music, friends and fun.

QUASI, Hobosexual, Pablo Trucker, Passenger String Quartet and Nu Klezmer Army added to Timber!

We’re very excited to announce 5 new artists to the Timber! Outdoor Music Festival Lineup.

QUASI

Headlining these new additions are the incredibly influential Portland indie rock/punk band Quasi, who are celebrating 20 years as a band this year.  Quasi features veteran rockers Janet Weiss (Sleater Kinney, Wild Flag) and Sam Coomes (also appeared regularly with Elliot Smith and Built to Spill).

Hobosexual

Also added to the lineup are Seattle heavy rock duo, Hobosexual. Hobosexual have played for us at Slack Fest 2012 and have been one of our absolute favorite Seattle rock bands with one of the most jaw dropping and head-bang inducing live shows.

Pablo Trucker

Pablo Trucker are a band that played a significant role in the NW indie/folk boom years ago but quietly went into a long hiatus.  After a 2 year break, they broke their silence last month with a beautiful new single, causing a great deal of excitement for NW music fans in the know.

The Passenger String Quartet

The Passenger String Quartet, led by Andrew Joslyn are a local string quartet that perform original compositions and classical repertoire. However, they are most well known among those in the music community as a traveling string quartet that create arrangements and perform live with such great artists as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Duff McKagen, David Bazan, Suzanne Vega, Ivan and Alyosha and many more. You’ll have to stay tuned for our next announcement to find out who they’ll actually be collaborating with at Timber!

Nu Klezmer Army

Nu Klezmer Army are a group of punks who play traditional Yiddish music and turn any setting into a celebration. Nu Klezmer Army will be playing Timber! in an almost busking capacity, bringing a bit of Cafe Racer to the woods, creating celebratory moods around campfires and marching their way through the campgrounds.

Tickets are still available for Timber!  You can purchase tickets and camping here! Timber Outdoor Music Festival takes place on July 26th and 27th at King County’s Tolt-Macdonald Park in Carnation, WA!  Here’s your complete current lineup!

Guide to: Timber! Outdoor Music Fest Tickets

Since announcing Timber! Outdoor Music Festival and just a small portion of the lineup, we’ve probably fielded more questions and concerns about tickets and how fast they might sell out than any other.  The fact is, there is no real way for us to know how fast these tickets may or may not sell out.   We of course want it to sell out, but would prefer that tickets sell at a rate that people would have had ample time to purchase them and not be left out because of their internet speed or wanting to take their time looking things over.   With that, all we can do is suggest that on Tuesday morning, March 19th at 10am, you set an alarm and be on your computer to purchase tickets here (note this link will be live in the morning).  Additionally, we hope that this little preview of what to expect when purchasing tickets will help you make plans ahead of time, organize your groups, and lead to less surprises and confusion the morning of.

Ticket price – Tickets are $45 per person and children under 12 are free.  Camping is not required as you can choose to only be there for a portion of the festival, however understand that the programming will last from 6pm – as late as 1am on Friday and 11am – 1am on Saturday, so you might as well camp and get the whole experience.  Aside from the music we have programmed, there will also be a slew of outdoor “summer camp” like activities :)

Camping – Camping starts at just $20 per tent and there is also a slew of awesome premium camping options for groups that range between $200 – $400.  These include RV campsites and drive in camping.  There are also some pretty amazing Yurts for $1,000 that sleep 7 and come with 2 tent tags for the area around them which will be suitable for groups of 12.    Please note that all camping prices are for the duration of the festival and that check in is 12 noon on July 26th and Check out is 12 noon on July 28th.  DESCRIPTIONS OF ALL CAMPING OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE HERE, and will also be on the ticketing page.

So when you get to the ticketing page, you will need to select two different options.

First – Select the number of tickets you like

Second – select the type of accommodations you would like.  If you are doing General Festival Camping or General Festival QUIET Camping, remember that you need to select the number of tents you plan on using for your group. A few accommodation options are very limited so try to go into ordering with a couple back up plans in mind in case your first or second choice sell out quickly.

Then click order.

Ben Fisher answers… THE 10

The 10 is a collection of 10 greatest questions we could think of.  Periodically, we will present “the 10″ questions to members of our music and arts community and share their answers with you.  Here is “The 10″ with answers by none other than BEN FISHER

1)   Given that you have the acting skills to do it, which three movie characters would you want to go back in time and portray?

  1. The Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz. I was tragically overlooked in the 5th grade and was given the role of the Mayor of the Munchkins in the school production instead of the part I was dying for. I was chosen as the Tin Man’s understudy, but unfortunately the lead role did not come down with the flu.
  2. Harold in Harold and Maude
  3. Robbie Robertson in The Last Waltz. Nobody likes Robbie, he’s like The Band’s version of Ringo, except more malicious.

2)   If you died and ended up in a place where you were told that you had to choose one moment in your life that you would exist in for all of eternity, what moment would you choose? (Taken from the film, After Life)

I once met Joan Baez, and she shook my hand with both of hers. I’d gladly spend eternity with Joan Baez clutching my hand.

3)   Pick one: Choose Your Own Adventure Books, or Madlibs. Explain

Madlibs are much less a matter of life or death. I never trusted myself with the Choose Your Own Adventure books. I knew turning to page 88 would lead to me getting eaten by a bear. So Madlibs.

4) If you could have any band follow you throughout your day-to-day life, supplying your theme music, what band would you choose?

Mavis Staples. She’d make even the most mundane things soulful. Tying my shoe? Boom. It’s got soul. Getting on the bus, she could sing “I’ll Take You There” and make it an extremely fervent mode of transportation.

5)   If you could choose one place on earth to live the rest of your days, where would that be? Do you live there now? If not, why not?

London has such an amazing mix of old and new and is a big enough city to keep me occupied until the end of my days. No, I don’t live there now because I have no urge to leave our wonderful emerald city just yet.

6) Picture yourself as an owner of a small neighborhood store. What would you be selling?

Eyeglass repair kits, salt and vinegar chips, Tintin comic books, VHS copies of Fawlty Towers, chapstick, coffee beans, mangosteens, and Barbeque ducks hanging in the window.

7) Name a book or story that you would like to see made into a film.

Summerland by Michael Chabon was one of my favorite books from when I was a kid. There were talks to make it into a movie, but I think it was scrapped.

8)What makes peoples jaw drop when you say “I have never ________”?

Seen Forest Gump

9) What film best summarizes your teenage years?

Once

10) Gandalf or the color green?

I only saw the LOTR trilogy once, and didn’t read any of the books except for the Hobbit. The thing that stuck with me from the films was how dirty the bottom of Gandalf’s robes get when they’re traipsing around in the mud. The color green.

You can join Ben Fisher on April 17th when he plays the first in our “Tribute Show” concert series alongside Tony Kevin Jr.   The Tribute Show is an evening where two songwriters come together to cover each others songs and talk about what the other person’s songs mean to them.   Not only will the $13 admission grant you access to the show, it will also buy you a split CD between the two artists.

Tickets available here - http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/330442

Ben Fisher is also currently raising money to fund the recording and release of his debut LP – Please consider visiting his Kickstarter page here to contribute.
